My System Specs

Default Vista 64 winsxs folder

Do anyone know a safe way to clean or compress the winsxs folder in Vista short of doing a clean install. I was hoping that SP2 would fix it but I guess not.
I cleaned up my Vista drive and that folder is currently 19GB of the 85GB used on the drive, its not a space problem but scans are taking forever just scanning that folder.
Wondered if someone had a trick to deal with this.

it isn't possible. You could remove it with vLite, however you would also have to remove windows update. And even then I have my doubts your computer would work properly.

There are a few utilities that are made by the general "user" community. Take a look :D

Gezz ......I don't think they even fixed winsxs in Windows 7, unreal. I was really liking 7.
I used vsp1cln.exe with SP1 but there don't seem to be anything similar for SP2 and vLite gave me errors in the past.
