Well if you think about, Windows 7 is rather heavily based on Vista IMO. They've just tweaked the hell out of everything to make it run more efficiently. And thus why the version number lies at 6.1 rather than 7.0, unless they plan on changing that in the RTM build.

I haven't had to pay for XP or Vista. I've also gotten free copies of Office 2007, SQL Server 2005/2008 and Visual Studio Pro. I always watch out for Microsoft launch events where they usually hand out free software.

well its nice to see the release date, but I seriously think that they need to give free upgrades to everyone who bought Vista as its BS for those that have just purchased Vista in the last year or so and now 7 is getting release.

I purchased my Vista Ultimate about 1 1/2 years ago as my OEM copy of XP disc was destroyed. Oh well enough of a semi rant.

I bought Vista Home Premium 64bit around 3 months ago...
