Default Conversion Program

Does anyone know of a decent program to convert .avi files to .mp4 for an IPOD Touch? Freeware preferable but any suggestions are welcome

Thanks in advance,

I thought you could do that from Itunes?

If not this should work, its for the PSP but same idea, they both use MP4 formats.

PSP Video 9 - Free PSP Video Converter

Ive used it before, always worked well for me.

I use Mediacoder for many conversions; MediaCoder - more than a universal audio/video transcoder

I have not used mp4, but its supported.

I used to but I don't know, I just can never seem to get the results that I want from it. Seems glitchy a lot of the time.

I use StaxRip now instead, which uses all the "standard" programs like VirtualDubMod, AviSynth etc. Just gives you a simple to use GUI and does all the steps between programs for you. It has a built-in PSP profile, but you could modify that to your needs for the iPod.
