Default New Nvidia Vista 64bit drivers 185.85

Well it's nice to finially see the 64bit Vista drivers have caught up with 32bit version out now for almost a month, better late than never. Hopefully I will be able to see some PhysX options now in the Nvidia control panel under Vista 64bit as I'm looking forward to some benchmarking with Cryostasis tech demo.

Quote:

New in Release 185 drivers:
  • Adds support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
  • Adds support for Ambient Occlusion – the newest NVIDIA Control Panel feature to offer enhanced 3D gaming realism exclusively to GeForce GPUs.
  • Adds support for CUDA 2.2 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See CUDA for more details.
  • Expands GPU hardware acceleration for the NVIDIA Video Encoding library to GPUs with less than 32 cores. Applications using this library include CyberLink PowerDirector 7, Nero Move it 1.5, Loilo SuperLoiloScope MARS, and CyberLink MediaShow Espresso.
  • Accelerates performance in several 3D applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with Release 185 drivers vs. Release 182 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
    • Up to 25% performance increase in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
    • Up to 22% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled
    • Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled
    • Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2
    • Up to 30% performance increase in Half-Life 2 engine games with 3-way and 4-way SLI
    • Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror’s Edge with antialiasing enabled
  • Automatically installs the new PhysX System Software version 9.09.0408.
  • Supports GeForce Plus Power Pack #3. Download these FREE PhysX and CUDA applications now!
  • Numerous bug fixes. Refer to the release documentation notes.
  • Users without US English operating systems can select their language and download the International driver here.
Existing Support:
  • Supports single GPU and NVIDIA SLI technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL, including 3-way SLI, Quad SLI, and SLI support on SLI-certified Intel X58-based motherboards.
  • Includes full support for OpenGL 3.0.
  • Supports NVIDIA SLI Multi-monitor support, giving you the ability to use two monitors with your GeForce graphics cards in SLI mode. Learn more here.
  • Supports NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on a dedicated GeForce graphics card. Use one card for graphics and dedicate a different card for PhysX processing for game-changing physical effects. Learn more here. Note: GPU PhysX is supported on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory.
  • Supports GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring by installing NVIDIA System Tools software.

F@H with these drivers = Fail (so far)

I would have thought that it was an unstable oc, however when both my rigs got 472 pt WU's they both dropped to around 3400 ppd (with the new drivers). I reset the computer and got both rigs to go back to around 6000 pts + for the 472 WU's. But I never had the problem happen with the 182 drivers I was using... so I blame the drivers

ps. I'm using xp 32 though so once I get resistors I'll se ehow it goes in Vista 64.

Browsing through the Folding Forums makes me wary of these drivers. The cudart.dll file seems to be an issue. One guy says he saw an increase, but he also mentioned that his gpu was underperforming in the first place. Others who tried it had issues, or saw no difference.

Too bad...I saw that there were Cuda 'improvements' and got excited for a sec. I would wait if you are a folder.

Agreed, I decided to take my rig apart and do some cable management and clean the dust out (since I did a crappy job with my Antec 90 when I 1st built it). So... I also decided to do a fresh install of the drivers (saw the new ones on nvidias website) and it was working great, so I installed the drivers on y 2nd rig... Still looked ok in the morning, everything was folding away fine, come home from work and they are getting around 3400 ppd... not impressed.

sorry didn't see your post. It was about 6800 (for 472 WU's) with the old drivers.

so far these are the only x64 drivers that work for my 9600 ( just thought it was funny with people always complaining about ati drivers support)

I have had the worst bugs with these. During games I can see my desktop flickering through the game sort of like artifacts. Its really odd and unstable. I rolled back to 182.50. I heard with the 8 and 9 series there are problems. Why I do not know. I was looking forward to the performance increase though in these new games myself.
