Default Outlook from multiple machines

Hi folks,

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, I just couldn't settle on one that seemed perfect though. Anyway, I want to use the same Outlook Calendar on my laptop and desktop at home. I do not use Outlook for email, just the Calendar and Contacts. I think I could have them both use the same .pst file, located on a shared drive on one machine or the other, but only one could have it open at a time. Would that work or is there some thought there might be errors? I also see several 'syncing' utilities out there but I wonder if any of them are any good (especially the free ones as i'm kinda cheap). And which method is the best.

Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

You could use microsoft synctoy, it's a free download ( It'll make sure the files are the same on both machines over a network. )

synctoy looks cool but i would not advice using it for outlook. The Microsoft synchronization engine is great for desktop files, my documents files (etc) but not databases (PST files, MDB files, etc.) In fact, if Microsoft programmed Synctoy properly it would skip the syncing of said database files all together.

This is the answer you do not want to hear:

The only seamless way to share calenders (as per how Outlook was designed to share calenders) is to migrate your account to a Microsoft Exchange server or Windows Small Business server $$$
