My System Specs

Default Nvidia 185 drivers..

A friend of mine linked me to this today...

http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_am...sion_home.html

And I think that's pretty cool.. so I wanted to try out the beta 185 drivers to see about this new feature, however on the 185 beta drivers download page, there is no mention about this new feature.. So, did they not add it yet?

Is anyone using the 185 drivers? Do you have this new option?

Quote:
This driver supports GeForce 9-series, 100-series, and 200-series desktop GPUs.
New in Release 185.68:
  • Optimized performance for the PC game The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.
New in Release 185:
  • Adds support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
  • Adds support for CUDA 2.2 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See www.nvidia.com/cuda for more details.
  • Accelerates performance in several 3D applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with Release 185 drivers vs. Release 182 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
  • Supports GeForce Plus Power Pack #3. Download these FREE PhysX and CUDA applications now!
  • Numerous bug fixes. Refer to the release documentation notes.
  • Users without US English operating systems can select their language and download the International driver here.
As you can see, nothing about this new ambient occlusion

More about it here:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 Unleashed - HotHardware

Claimed a 20-40% drop in performance... but I can take the hit playing COD4, my framerates are crazy in that game anyways.

And this:
TechConnect Magazine - The jump to 185, GeForce 185.20 tested - Page 12

Looks pretty cool... I want to try it out.

Yeah it's not there, same with SLI on

Weird thing though:

Did not require me to reboot after it installed the drivers..

There is a mention in one of the posts in the comment thread about not asking for the restart

Quote:
I also forgot to mention that occasionally this driver does not reboot the system when I hit finish after installing so I have to restart through windows.
Try it, maybe it will help...

I know little about the new drivers since I don't game much, it sounds strange that its not there for you since posts in the thread about this driver at Guru3d show it working for them.

Quote:
AO works for me without a problem, But I go to the game profile it self and not the base profile and turn on AO for that game. In its own profile.

Like I would go to Half life 2 EP 2 profile and turn it on there, and not on the base profile where it forces it for all games. Because it works for me and I dont have your issues when I use it like this

I just reinstalled them... and rebooted before I did anything, and even checked the game profiles... it's not there.. sigh.

Hopefully when the real release comes out I'll be able to use it! I just want to try it out.
