You can't delete it. Well I'm sure that you may be able to find a way, but according to Microsoft it is not meant to be removed, unlike Office 2003.

Here is some of the info that I found here. MSOcache = Local install source

The Local Install Source feature is installed so that you do not have to insert the CD during the following Setup operations:
  • The Detect and repair operation
  • The Demand install operation
  • The Maintenance mode setup operation
  • The installation of service packs and updates
Also, you cannot remove the Local Install Source feature after the installation has been completed. The Windows Cleanup Wizard does not include an option to remove this feature.

Note If you install other 2007 Office programs to different hard disk drives on the computer, an Msocache folder is created on each hard disk drive.

Hope that helps.

Really though is 500MB that big of a deal? In this day and age with hard drive so large I wouldn't worry about it.

It is better than not having an up to date office in my opinion, but hey that's just me.

Of course I'm not saying don't try it either, cause if you get rid of it and things still work fine then I would get rid of it as well.

I'm still using Office XP and very happy with it, couldn't bother with M$'s updated junk to be honest, Office XP does the trick and has more features than most people will need anyways.

Don't worry I completely know what you mean. I just cleared out about 50GB of junk that was left on one of my drives from a previous install.
