Vista name already taken

It's open season on MS in Europe. The litigation lineup is growing by the day.

A French man has attacked Microsoft for using the Vista name, which he said was intended as the name for a TV channel being launched.

Accord to PC Inpact, Philippe Gildas registered the trademark Vista in the autumn of 2003, with the mark covering a number of media aimed at the older sort of citizen. He's complained to the Vole. The ball, as the web site says, is now in Microsoft's court. Gildas wants either an amicable settlement or else the Vole faces a law suit, it appears. µ

I can't see how the two would really be related. You have a TV station on one hand and a Computer operating system on the other -How is that a violation?
I guess different countried have sifferent laws of course but I can't see how they are hurting his TV station any. I guess they will have to go back to LONGHORN

I was thinking the same thing- there must be thousands of comapnies and products that share a name but are completely unrelated. I wouldn't think there was an infringement there (and I have a harvard law degree- NOT). The europeans really want to taste MS blood these days- I think it's a bit if a wave of anti american-capitalism.
