i did indeed try games, and the results sucked imo

this is 2 4870s at 790/1100 and 100% fan speed

8.12
3dmark06 = 20029
gta4 at high and very high settings 52.12
crysis warhead (all settings, except shaders and shadows at gamer, are enthusiast), min =21.74, avg= 54.87, max = 71.19

9.1
3dmark06= 19993
gta4 same as 8.12 = 51.37
crysis warhead same settings as 8.12 = min=21.34, avg=43.46, max= 64.97.

i uninstalled/reinstalled 9.1 several times to make sure, got the same kind of results.

disappointed, i shall be reverting back to 8.12

You're going to revert to 8.12 just because you lost between 1 and 3 FPS in some games?!

That's plain silly. You'd be missing out on all the fixes! Not all driver updates are intended to increase performance. Stability is just as important and that needs serious addressing.

Is there a changelog anywhere? I want to see if it's worth updating.

An 11FPS frop in Crysis is a pretty substantial drop, that is about a 20% drop. So if he find that the 8.12's are perfectly stable, there is no logical reason to stay with 9.1's. I've chosen older drivers over newer ones plenty of times because they ran faster.

Yeah, the option is no longer in teh control panel.

On 2900XT, I'm seeing very signifigant increases in FPS across the board in games. Perfect example is GTA4...max playable before was 1680x1050, medium details, now 1920x1080 is smooth as well(27-120FPS). Between the latest patch and the new driver, total gains are about 40%...which is very nice for such an old card.
