At the very least, with Windows 7 being rushed to production, now isn't the time to be purchasing Vista. Just have a look at how much ME driver support there is for the main reason. :)

I have been messing around with win 7 ( 32bit )for a while now ( still Beta) and I have to say it is pretty nice allot better then Vista it isn't as smooth as XP but like I said it is still in the Beta stage. but I would definitely save your money and hold onto XP as long as you can then pickup windows 7. Personally when a new OS comes out ( Windows based) I hold off for at least 6 months before I pick it up just take make sure that there isn't any major security holes or any other problems.

How'd you get to be an official beta tester? Must've taken some credentials

It's "out in the wild" now, with many sources suggesting that it was let out by M$ themselves.

If things go the same way as it did with Vista, it was pretty well an open time limited beta so everybody will get to play when it goes official.

"out in the wild" - as in, microsoft "released it" to "roam free" on a random website and people just started downloading it?

wouldn't microsoft announce something like that? and if it wasn't microsoft, you know, like somebody else, would they have to have been somebody working on Win7 to be able to do that?
