Because when I'm in productive mode, I don't need visual crap eating my resources.

Aesthetics is a part of good design..if the visual changes mean I'm more productive then that goal is met. My main rig is not perceptively slower on Vista than XP so the eye candy is nice as I don't see any downside if your computer can take advantage of it. Sure Vista is using 1.5GB of Ram right now on my machine, and XP never touches that amount but I have 4GB of Ram and for my usage XP never came close to using all of it.

The only program I have an issue with right now is Raxco Perfect Disk. Other than that everything else works. I haven't downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers yet but my Prelude drivers installed fine. You will need the latest Blackberry software (4.7 I believe) as 4.6 doesn't install properly. That's about all of note right now.

No link - inside source at MS. But that's scrapped now - they're going with retinal scan - cheaper

I have to say that Microsoft did something right this time. It is a lot faster, looks way better (but they still need Anti Aliasing), way more user friendly, less UAC crap bugging ya all the time, has drivers for a lot of things pre-installed. Like when I was installing the OS for the first time it auto found my wireless drivers and I could connect to the internet right off the bat. I was SO amazed because MS never has done this before. I love the new task bar and how efficient it is. Even my brother who is a huge Mac fan and is also a graphic artist is amazed. He says he wishes Mac OSX did some of the things that Windows 7 does.

Anyways just wondering if any of ya played with the unofficial release of Windows 7 beta yet.

Oh and I am buying Windows 7 as soon as it comes out and probably will shell out for the Ultimate version to show my support on a very good job.
Got it rolling here. build 7000.
Works quite well.
Should do well on older computers too.
Had more trouble remembering how to set up thunderbird e mail client settings than with '7 itself.
Only issue so far is trying to run Superantispyware it blue sceens heavy on a start.
No uninstall for it either in progams. ugh.

You gotta love Microsoft, no way of removing useless utilities :D

Anyhow, I'm curious to know, can Windows 7 run legacy 16bit installers ? Does Windows 7 have compatibility mode execution like in XP where you right click an EXE and can choose to run in Win95/98/NT/XP/2k compat mode ? Still have my old CLIP ART CD from IMSI, and it uses a 16bit installer wondering if it would work...... :)

Yes there a compatability mode thingy in 7

I wouldn't no about 16 bits or that.

Well it came up for SuperAntispyware here anyway.

Offered to try as if it was on Vista or I selected that..can't remember

Believe a box came up and asked me questions to tick regarding how the app was operating or not.
It is in there.
