I've got all the drivers loaded (nvidia 180.84, creative x-fi & console) office 2007, everest, CS3 etc...
i have full audio and video functionality, zero issues yet.

Again, loving the UI. Everything is better than vista or XP. Going to run this as my primary os.

Again, the superbar is the best desktop ever.

Exactly - and even bigger reason why it's a scam for those who already purchased VISTA - Also it's based on the same foundations with new skin and coverups, people expected some major changes - so I hope Microsoft sticks to its words and makes DX11 compatible to VISTA :) Also, hardware acceleration for sound is still gone, same architecture, ok you'll proably say Alchemy or OpenAL, but I hardly see ANY reason for upgrading to payong a penny on Win7, for only a new interface - when you will probably find a Windows 7 theme you can apply to Windows XP :D Like they did for VISTA.

M$ had to do something to erase the stigma attached to their Vista launch, so while Windows 7 might not be much more than an improved Vista, it is the OS that us hardcore XP users might consider upgrading to in the future.
Well I am skeptic, but I doubt Win7 wille ver compete with XP SP3 for gaming, as long as it uses the same architecture and handles DX9 like VISTA, forget it.

They should call it VISTA SE, like they did with Windows 98. VISTA SE (Second Edition) ;-)

You prove my point again.

90% of people who say they like Windows 7 say something about the way it looks not the way it performs.

Pretty wins every time.

That is a load of heavy bullshit ! I've used Creative soudncards since the SB 16 ASP in every version of windows, and never had ANY BSOD caused by a sound driver. Witht he new architecture, hardware abstract layer is no more - no more Direct Sound hardware acceleration, no hardware EAX, no 3D sound, no multi speakers, etc... Creative Labs came up with the SMART idea to make D3S->OpenAL drivers for select games to overcome this - and besides games that support OpenAL are not concerned by this audio crippling.

I have to agree with enaberif about Windows 98. I miss the fact that you could CHOOSE what you wanted to install on the OS. Unfortunately gone are those days! The reason why Xp, Vista etc are so bloated is not only because of the useless garbage that is installed that no one ever uses, its also because I doubt very much the DEVs optimize the coding. Programmers are lazier these days when it comes to coding since technology changes so fast, they can just rely on the hardware.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but there was a very talented programmer that made a one level game that looked like doom 3. And he optimized the coding so much, that it was only like 64k or something. The point is, that he proved that if coders were'nt so lazy, they could optimize the coding and it wouldn't be like 10gigs to install.

The worst OS that M$ has ever created had to be ME! What a joke that was. I'm not surprised M$ has already developed a new OS so quickly. They could care less if it is more optimized ect. As enaberif has stated, they are marketing first time computer buyers with the fancy UI. People that bought Vista should at the very least get half off the new OS since its basically Vista version 2.

I like Vista. Sure there is a ton of garbage that is installed that I will never use, but I haven't had any problems with Vista. Maybe its just me, but I find it easier to Alt + Tab out of games a lot more easier in Vista. One thing I don't like is how task manager works. In Xp when you press Ctrl + Alt + Del task manager pops it. In Vista it brings you to a menu and then you have to select it, which is annoying. Another thing is the mem usage in Vista. I have 8gb and it says its using 22% of mem, like WTF!

If Windows 7 is better than Vista than I will probably get it since I like Vista.

I'm not talking about looks here, when I'm bragging up the superbar its the functionality that I'm loving. The best desktop management environment i've ever used. This is a productivity booster regardless of whether it boots 4 seconds slower or whatever, it saves hours a week in usability.

You need to try it or at least look at the features before you pile all the hate on like you do vista.

And what's wrong with the fact that it looks better. To 99% of users that is their experience. Do you set all your games to low quality so you can run them at 100+ fps?

And it does look better, way better. The xp desktop was not designed for the high resolution lcd's we run these days and the icons and fonts just don't cut it anymore.
