Really whats the point in 4gb of ram if youre going to use an os that uses like 200mb of it?
I buy my RAM in pairs and I got the 4GB cheap - and no your OS uses way more than 200mb of your 4GB With latest SPs, VISTA says 4GB memory, however, only little over 3GB is used the rest is system reserved - and out of that a maximum of 2GB can be used AT ONCE for 32bit applications and games. Also WHY make use of something against my will ? If I want to isntall windows why the hell should I be IMPOSED crapware just because I have 500GB HD and 4GB of RAM, that is unacceptable, that is invading my resources for NOTHING - for features I DON'T USE, and that I should be allowed to have a say whether I want to or not use them during install! I can see the day where we will be running 64bit, and I will have 64 GB of RAM and my windows OS will occupy 57 GB of my RAM in bloatware out of the box

Very annoying.
Wow - that's annoying indeed - it's like VISTA, it has the classic theme but not all can be changed - but it's still better than nothing - Yeah ugly looking interface - I prefer the old classic style with the icons I HATE this type of interface - Microsoft is really screwing things up - like they did with Office 2007's RIDICULOUS joke of an interface, until they finally came out with a classic skin.

LOL unless Windows 7 final is significantly faster than VISTA I won't bother - VISTA runs super fast for me as it is - so it will take quite a lot to get me to move to Win7. DX11 for VISTA will be a good incentive for me to stay in VISTA and not upgrade to Win7 - Thanks Microsoft, :D

Well you are a very small minority that don't like color or flashy stuff for there computer. I spent so much money just to stair at a grey bars all day. Come one Classic view is butt ugly.

Anyways apart from the GUI being far better in Windows 7 like the small things they improved here and there. But things like paint is FAR better. It is actually usable. I have no idea why ANYONE would bash windows 7. Maybe because their mind is already preset to think it sucks before they use it. Hey lets get things straight. Windows 7 is closer to XP then Vista. And infact Vista isn't that far off from XP. Like the majority of Vista is just a new skin. If I go into control panel it is the EXACT same thing as XP. If I go to manage my computer it is the EXACT same thing. It is just a "updated" GUI for the most part. Yeah there are some new apps and "features" but the core of Vista and 7 are the same as XP.

Also a virtual copy of an OS is just junk. You can't fully know how much ram it is using and you also probably don't have the full GUI on. The fact is that this is still a Beta FAR from release and it is stable and runs just perfect which to my knoledge never has ever happend in any of Microsofts OSes.

Thank you for proving my point that people care more about how it looks than it functions :)

Oh and the core of Windows Vista/7 is not anywhere near the same as XP its been completely redone.

There are no premature drivers because it still uses Vista drivers. Also Farcry 2's DX10 is the most efficient game I know of. It uses less ram then DX9.

No I prefer function which is why I care also about looks. No point having a $600 video card if I don't use it at all for half the time.

Anyways if you if you look at the service screen you can't tell the difference from Vista to XP. If you look at the Task Bar there isn't a huge change. If you look at the Task manager there isn't any difference from XP. If you look at msconfig or look at your registry files they are the same as XP or Vista. If you look at manage your computer you couldn't tell a difference. If you look at the way it manages folders it is the same. If you look at control panel in clasic veiw it is the same. If you look at....

Anyways what I am trying to say is for the majority of the core stuff it is the same from XP to Vista. It just has a new skin and added useless things like UAC.

Also people don't seem to remember that Vista auto uses more ram because of the way is prefetches apps so apps launch faster.

As I stand on Vista I stand the same on Windows 7 and people will realize that Windows 7 is nothing more than a fancier version of Vista.

If I sound like I dislike 7 more than Vista? That isn't how it is but until real world benchmarks come out I'm going to say that the speed difference we see between Vista and 7 will probably be less than a 2% increase.

that may be true but from my own experience going from XP to Vista there is almost 0 FPS loss in games.

Now I don't think an OS should always be getting faster. Come on you can only optimize so much and then add a much better GUI on top of that. Besides you wont notice a difference in game.
