And I recall with Windows XP people said the same thing when it came out :D
Windows Vista and Windows 7 just prove to people if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Running Win7 Beta 1 now and really liking it. The superbar is the best UI they've ever had. Zero issues so far.

Well, I just installed Far cry 2 and am getting 2fps faster in dx10 than I was with xp dx9.

The task manager shows more than xp's.

Install it and try it yourself, I highly recommend it.

I have and I wasn't impressed.

And the only thing different about the task manager is it shows running services.

This is installed within a Virtual Machine with just over 1gb of ram. OS install size is 8.1gb.

Thank's Enaberif,

Memory usage doesn't seem to bad, unless there's nothing running in the background!
Wow, 8.1 gb, Holy!

The same 'ol dog!

My System Specs

Default

*sigh* the battle goes on with enaberif about Vista and now 7...

Running Windows 7 on a virtual machine is a totally different experience from actually installing it directly onto your hard drive and allowing the OS access to real hardware. I imagine you might have different thoughts if you ran it for real rather than virtually.

My friend was playing with 7 on VMWare last night and said it was pretty crappy so I convinced him to install it onto his PC instead and he was just totally amazed with it. Commented how much better it ran and said it was what Vista should of been. He also likes the new GUI since it makes things easier to do and redefines the original Windows-taskbar setup.

And for the OS taking up 8.1GB, you need to consider all the programs, APIs, the whole GUI and everything else that makes the OS tick. Windows 7 is a lot more complex compared to XP IMO. Since we all have 500GB+ hard drive these days, why does it really matter? Even cheap computers from Future Shop have large hard drives.
