I got 7 to install via doing a fresh Vista install, then doing an upgrade. Currently there is no way I'll be keeping it installed at least until they release a worthy update. Using 4 SSDs in RAID0, it should be running lightening fast. Not slower than dog doo-doo. Right-clicking takes a good 2-3 seconds before bringing up a menu. The start menu often does the thing, but lag time is 5+ seconds before the menu appears. It doesn't shut down properly ever, I have to force it off everytime. I can't even get Disk Management to load half the time.

I really don't like how you can't pin specific folders to the taskbar. Not open up the silly Library folder evertyime. That is a productivity killer for me.

Oi, guess I'll be using my Mac for a main computer still for now. And Vista for a gaming machine.

That doesn't mean that they should stop trying to get it right so long as it doesn't take up a lot of resources. I was quite surprised the first time I noticed the built-in unzip feature, and in all honesty don't need anything else these days.

I also remember when M$ defrag was almost worse than no defrag at all (everybody used norton utilities). IIRC, it was Win 98 when they finally bought out a private company's defrag utility to come up with something that wasn't quite as good as a third party defrag, but was at least good enough for the average user.

I actually use windows built in burning program and never had a problem. I will now use windows 7's burning program too. I find 0 need for Nero or any third part app for burning. Now if it comes with a built in mounting app that would be sweet too.

I can't remember if I posted it in this thread but Virtual Clone drive from slysoft might as well be an integrated program, just click on an iso and it mounts it.
SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive

A little caveat, I haven't had too much time to test it out yet, but it seems to work ok and it's free.

Well....I just ditched my Windows 7 x64 build! Something is definitively wrong

Today I installed Windows 7 x64 Beta probably 10 times and something always went wrong to the point where after a restart...there are no more drives! They just disappear!?!?! Hmmm...the latest drivers installed; intel inf. files, nVidia drivers, all updates installed, antivirus, F@H and so on...

Had a few blue screens with messages I've never seen before... and then it restarts never to show anything again until a fresh install!

Perhaps Windows 7 does not like to be OC'd??? It's only running at 3.6GHz!!! Anybody else have these kind of experiences so far?

Gotta be the x64 build. I have a copy and will try it soon.

Edit: I'm running the 32 bit for 2 weeks now, doing work with it all day every day on a q6600@3890.

You may be onto something here, I ran the 32 bit pre-beta and I have to say it was pretty close to ready for prime time... My experience with the X64 version left me wanting and I blew it away...
Next rainy day I'll try the X86 on my main rig.

If you're running the pre-public build 7000 you won't have to update, it's the same thing and should have auto-updated itself a few times already.

Did you try running/installing at stock to see if the issues went away?

It is possible that it doesn't like your OC. The reason we do several different stress tests to check out the stability of our OC is that different apps stress different hardware... could be there's a slight instability somewhere in your OC that only Windows 7 was able to find.
