XP for me. It has nothing of interest and does nothing for me. Its just Vista with a few major tweaks.
Eventually you'll have NO CHOICE to switch once update support stops and games require VISTA ;)

Looks like M$ will not make the same mistake - Seems Direct X 11 will be released for BOTH Windows 7 (will ship with the final release with Win7) and also be released for VISTA.

Now saying Win7 is a 1:1 copy VISTA with visual tweaks is not 100% true, while it is based on VISTA's foundation, there are a few changes, maybe not a MAJOR OS revision - but this version of windows will have biometrics user authentication and activation - sounds scary ? you should stick to Windows XP or VISTA......:)

As to DX 11, I am skeptic we'll be seeing any DX11 game in 2009.......we barely have DX10 games so f*ck it - I'm sticking to XP & VISTA fo rmy DX10 games, I hardly see any reason for Windows 7, even with the so-called new features and the new user interface which is a bloody joke IMO.

Games are that important to me.

When an OS is released that I like then I'll switch. I haven't liked Vista and I don't like Win7 so far.

So XP stays.

What? Its not just vista with more visual effects. If you want to trash an os at least try using it and finding out all the facts before you say something completely and utterly wrong lol... I used Win7 as my main os for about a month when the 6801 build was leaked and loved it, ill be picking up the public beta as soon as its released and the retail version as well when it comes out.

If that is what you are going to say about it then validate what you say. I've seen hundreds of people say this but nobody ever validates it. Its like saying you've drove a McLaren F1 but have no pictures to back it up.

Because when I tried it the only thing I saw was Vista with a glossier Aero interface.

The one thing I will say is that it does use or SEEMED to use less memory but that will have me having to try the OS in a non virtual machine to see.

Yeah, there is a good reason you do not run any corporate IT shop

Once the official is out, hopefully you'll see something like a windows7 enabled VLITE, to polish and trim the extra fat - That's what I use for VISTA and it runs much better, much faster and takes a fraction of the memory and the games run perfect! I can't wait for the official to come out and trim all the extra crap and see how much faster it runs than VISTA SP1.

See this is what bothers me I mean if you have to tweak an OS that much to make it run like you want.. to me you might as well run XP.

I run XP SP3 as my primary OS and VISTA as a secondary OS - *ONLY* used for DX10 games - I do all of my DX9 gaming in XP SP3 and my work on another dedicated partition for another XP SP3 install.

The tweaking part doesn't bother me - I think M$ intended these OS for people who like visual interfaces - don't get me wrong, the OS runs great even if I don't tweak it, because my system is powerful enough but the idea to tweak is getting rid of this gay interface and all the bloat that is loaded in memory at startup, that is useless to me - looks I'll be sticking to XP too - as far as games as far as I know, from games currently in dev - most are DX9 anyways, one thing I must say that VISTA has gone a long way comapred to what it was. And I recall with Windows XP people said the same thing when it came out :D
