Default Question about drivers for Asus 4850

I am planning on building my new rig this weekend (Will post pics in gallery when I'm done) I got an Asus EAH4850 TOP graphics card. The disc appears to come with outdated drivers and the Asus "GamerOSD" software. Can I just download the Catalyst 8.12 drivers directly, install them, and forget about the Asus CD entirely do I need that GamerOSD software? From what I can tell it looks like it's just a branded catalyst control center, but I can't find any info on this.

Like SugarJ said, the Catalyst 8.12 will work fine, the included drivers on the CD aren't anything special, they are just branded ATi Catalyst drivers.

IIRC, the GAMEROSD app is one of the few manufacturer apps which has the ability to set up different "auto" profiles for fan settings at different GPU temps.

Sounds like the GamerOSD is better than CCC then.

That's the Asus 'Smart Doctor' which does an excellent job...It can be used to set fan profiles as well as for overclocking the vid card.

I'm just going to start by installing the Catalyst drivers; then if I find that I want a feature of gamerOSD I'll just install it later.
