it has a ton of programs... so i wonder which should i use? i prefer one of those many categories

i mean... i OCed q9450 to 3.2ghz at 1.20v (1.18v on occt and cpuz) i use p95 dos and ran for 10 minutes.... its stable... then i go to vista and run OCCT for less than 2 minutes... its not stable...

so whats up?

I think most people call "stable" the ability to run for anywhere from 6 hours to 24 hours without errors, depending on the program. I always use about 8 hours for most any program. If you are showing errors in any program, I would say that you might have to go back to do some tweaking. Of course, I've never used Vista, so I can't speak to any testing programs running under it. Anyways, good luck.

Unfortunately that's what you need to do if you want to ensure that your OC is fully stable.

I do 1 hr primes as I'm trying to find max OC, followed by 2 Hours OCCT, then several 3dmark runs, and finally at least 8 hours (it's usually 16+) of prime to finish it off.

Once that's done, I start folding (or boincing) and if I can get a couple of weeks out of that without errors I figure my job is done. :)

There you go. If OCCT stable for 2 hours, then you're good to go.

Much better.

how ironic--the process of making your computer go faster is slow and arduous...
