Exclamation HELP! Wondows live messanger hangs on system startup ?

My windows Live messenger Hangs on system startup (it is set to sign me in automatically on system startup). I have to go into the task manager stop it then restart messenger for it to work. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but that didn’t work. I also tried the online help feature, but I couldn’t find the answered on there either. I am at a loss as to how to fix it. The version of windows live messenger that I have is 8.5.1302.1018.
Thanks

What are your system specs? What O/S are you running? Have you done a lot of spyware and virus checks lately?

I would clean the registry to start, and use a program like regedit to check which programs are set to start when you log into windows. But a simple solution would be to turn off automatic start up on windows live and just start it later.

I would just have it not start at start up. Chances are you could be having a lot of items starting up causing MSN to hang up. Do you really need to have it start at start up? If you can't get into MSN to stop it from starting up do the following:

Windows XP:
1. Click on Start and go to Run.
2. Type in msconfig and press Enter.
3. On the System Configuration window click on the Start Up tab.
4. Uncheck MsnMsgr and click on Apply and OK.
5. When prompted to restart the computer, restart the computer.

Windows Vista:
1. Click on Start.
2. In the Start Search field type in msconfig and press Enter.
3. On the System Configuration window click on the Start Up tab.
4. Uncheck MsnMsgr and click on Apply and OK.
5. When prompted to restart the computer, restart the computer.

For opening in vista, isn't it easier to do Startmenubutton+R to open up run and type in msconfig?

If you are virus free and no other problems are occuring on your computer, it could be a problem with Windows Live communicating with the internet. If your using a router, try to plug your computer directly into the modem. If this doesn't work and the problem isn't your router, then disable any firewall on your computer. Finally if you have a anti-virus that runs on start up, disable it. Do these one by one so you know which one is the problem.

ugh quit recommending msconfig PLEASE.

There are proper tools out there to remove things from your startup list properly.

Second you can go into msn messenger and tell it to stop from the options.

You want to tell me how I played you for fool’s twice?

Once was at NCIX which has no connection (other then it is sponsored by NCIX or something) to this forum at all……I made an alternate account because 90% of you wouldn’t have helped me at all if I used this account…..your basing things on something that is not even connected to this forum

None of you said anything till I decided to abandon my other account…..I don’t like having to what I did, but it was the only way that I would have gotten any help from most of you (as I already stated)
