Default Cheap new box

... I don't really plan on doing much in the way of "hardcore gaming" but I'd like a system that can actually keep up. I'm not really interested in non-Intel processors, and am not really interested in going ATI again either.

If the system can do it reliably, I may consider overclocking it. I'm also going to add another 2g of RAM in the near future.

How does this look in terms of a "bargain" build which still has some decent performance?

1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.53GHZ 1066FSB 3MB Retail Box

That system will do just fine on a 19" monitor. If you have a bigger LCD, you may want to upgrade your GPU a bit.

Yeah - for 119$ CDN that BFG card is a pretty good bargain... can you suggest anything comparable or better in that price range? :)

EVGA 8800GT, the 8800GT gives better performance than the 9600GT, and not sure that the factory overclock is large enough to make a significant difference to change that.

Eek, it was cheap last week, well guess what,
Future Shop: Computer Add-Ons: Sound & Video: BFG GeForce 8800 GT 512MB PCIe Video Card

BFG 8800GT , that's prefactory overclocked.
$100.

Still a pretty good card, and for that price you'll be able to play some higher end games while keeping in budget.

Do you plan to order or do local pick up at a store?
Cause you might want to call in and check, that was the case with my 9800GTX+, they had one left luckily for me (:.
