My System Specs

Default NOTICE - PC builders, when asking for input on YOUR projects

PLEASE when POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

9. What resolution do you use?

The above information IS NEEDED, in order that WE can help YOU make wise judgments on YOUR purchases

I found this on another forum. Any credit of this goes to Blain from AnandTech.

This is a great idea, but you should make it clear for people not to post their questions in here about the new system they want to build but to start their own thread. Just to use this as a guideline.

Ditto. Edited first post.

Can this be stickied? It's really helpful. It was really helpful in the AnandTech forums.

Hmm. Copy / pasted again from Anandtech.

It's fine if a new builder comes around and sees the sticky. But you know what? A new thread with very little information tells me a lot too: that member does not know much about computers and may be very happy with a low-end rig. If I sense that the member wants more that an entry-level rig, it's very important to explain clearly every detail about the chosen parts and the assembly process.

Before you start hating, Blain said it's fine.

Imo, these questions help a lot. Some people come in with little knowledge and just ask the forum members to build them a good computer for $$. Granted I'm more than happy to do that if I have time, but sometimes, we need to know these information. You're not gonna throw in a $40 CPU cooler if you're not going to overclock, unless that person wants their build to be nice and cool of course.

I will make the same statement for both of your copied / pasted threads: if only you created both threads using your own words, and specifying that you saw a similar thread over at AnandTech, I would have been more lenient. But you didn't.
