$500 PC For Sister

Hi everyone. I'll be building a computer for my sister. I'm going to be buying from NCIX.

BFG GeForce 9600GT OC 675MHZ 512MB $99.99. 69.99AR.

Cooler Master RC-330 $39.99

OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-15 $59.99. $29.99 AR

Samsung SH-S223F Black SATA DVD+RW $25.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 640GB 3.5IN SATA2 7200RPM 32MB Cache $73.99

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L $88.99

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W $59.99. $39.99 AR.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 $149.99

Total is $598.91 before rebates and shipping and tax. After rebates it's $518.91.

Is this a good comp?! Quick! Only 10 CPUs left. Thanks.

Nice parts for that price. Go for it.

BALISTX August 13, 2008 08:09 PM

Very nice build.

Had to change the E8400 to a E7200 because they ran out of E8400 at the special price >.>

Mom didn't like the idea of $660 + tax and shipping and insurance and w/e.

Oh, and I placed the order. Thanks all. I just had to get it confirmed whether it was all good or not.

U should just go to futureshop or bestbuy to get a cheap one, around 500-600$ include a monitor. Its much more convenient:biggrin:

geokilla August 13, 2008 08:58 PM

I would, but I don't want integrated graphics. Plus, I already have 3 monitors and one laptop. I now have to think of something to do with the Pentium III system.

I'll post a work log and maybe grab some pics for the Hardware Canucks community when the parts come and I start building. It could be my way of saying hello to the community =)

Nice system, you found the cheapest prices for everything, man $30 for RAM even after rebate that is pretty good. And you're one of the lucky ones to buy the E8400 too. Your sisters gonna love it.

Canada Computers has the same RAM for $20AR lol. I didn't get the E8400 btw. Check the 2nd or 3rd post =(

Does anyone know if NCIX will let me change the Seagate hard drive to a WD Caviar 640GB? I'm willing to pay that $5 difference.

Geokilla im glad yu went Ncix instead of Futureshop the components you have chosen there will be wayy overkill for yer sis and thats good im sure she doesnt do anything hardcore.
If you went to futureshop they would have probabaly sold yu a whole bunch of useless crap and you buyin this makes me think you can set it up if you can good for yea bra save yea sis some money, Have some fun building it and feel happy you saved a bunch instead of gettin raped at futureshop with a peice of crap HP computer or something ( has to fix regular futureshop hp computers ). That is oneeeee nifty computer for the price specially the ram getting it that cheap.

Should be a great system for her. Is she a gamer... that's a lot of power, if she's like most girls i know ... who just e-mail/IM and surf? I used the RC-330 in my daughters' build..great budget-case. I have the E8400 and GA P35-DS3L(essentially the same mobo) in my main system... good stuff....should rock. :punk:
