My System Specs

Default Time for more hardware!

Ok, I know this is a new build section but I can't think of a better place at the moment and I am hurting for some new hardware since it looks like I am possibly not going to end up with that logitech G25 I already ordered from NCIX after all. :/
So yea, I have some spare cash and am wondering what I should get. I don't want to spend it all at once for obvious reasons(I like a decent cash buffer of sorts and I want to spread out the hardware joy) so I have broken up everything into groups and such so people can help me work out what to get first. These are pretty much all the sort of items I intend to eventually get at sometime or another.
It would be nice to spend less than $400 before taxes and S&H for the first group of parts but if I have to spend a bit more I can. And of course, anything I don't get now can wait a month or two.
Yes, I do know that NCIX's current sale is almost over but I am willing to bet that the next one will be somewhat similar. If not and there is a similar item I can easily take it into consideration.

There are a couple things I have to point out first though:
a) If it is not available on NCIX it is not an option. (unless it is available from someone here.)
b) All MIR prices ignored and non-MIR prices used.
c) All duplicates in each section of the same item are intentional.
d) Items are negotiable unless otherwise specified.
e) Pricematching allowable.

Extra notes
I *NEED* onboard FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a) on my mobo and that is why the DS3L is not included.
The mobo's BIOS must not involve funky alias crap in the DSDT like but not limited to the ASUS P5Q* and some MSI boards. I do not want to have to modify all my BIOS updates.
LCD *MUST* have a matte display, case can be glossy even though matte case is preferred.
I am not currently looking to replace my graphics card just yet.
I am not looking to replace my case any time soon because I am planning to add 3 more 3.5" bays and have all upper 3.5" bays easily removable with hidden cables. I just need to get a suitable welder for that type of work built/purchased first. ;)
Please try to keep the watercooling stuff in one purchase, and keep in mind that I will probably have to do some pretty tight bending for my rad's connections. Some killy stuff (or the "around the house" equiv) to prevent growth and such should also be added.
Looks like I will probably need some different barbs for the CPU WB too eh?
I think the benq display I linked to will need a DVI cable(based on forum message) so what would be suitable?

If my mobo and/or CPU get replaced they will probably be sold to my sister for half or less of NCIX's current prices or so to start off her new computer.
Hum, I think that is all. Feel free to ask more questions too.

Ok! mix-n-match people, help me pick the first batch of parts. :)

Get the D-TEK FuZion v2 CPU block. Way better than the Thermalright IMO.

You could look at the Scythe Kaze Ultra fans instead for half the price. Still 120x120x38mm and they come in varying RPMs.

Not quite sure what you mean when talking about the ASUS BIOS'es but whatever. That Gigabyte board is alright.

For the CPU, the Q6600 isn't much more than an E8400 (when it's not onsale), so it might be worth considering.

I must admit though, I am somewhat wary of buying things not currently actually in stock but hopefully there will be some news on it in not too long of a time.

As for the fans, you mean this?

If so I might have to eventually get four. :P I shall start out with just push setup on my rad and if needed I can get a couple more later.

Added to the list, thanks for the input.
Any idea what sort of group I should go for first though?

I would start with the large Samsung monitor, the mic, and your mandatory cables. Creature comforts come first. Maybe get the RAM too if it fits your existing mainboard; if not get the DVD and buy the RAM in the second batch. Mainboard and 8400 in second batch. Watercooling gear last unless you want to go through all the trouble of hooking it up just to tear it down and do it again.

What is "funky alias crap" in a BIOS?

Hmm, Looks appealing either way.
Yea, the RAM does fit my existing mobo as far as I know, It would be completely replacing my current ocd ocz plats. The plats would be set aside for use in a rig for my sister. I mostly just have them there because I really could use another gig of RAM and I cannot guarantee that a second set of plats will run at similar speeds&voltages. It would also be nice to use less voltage as well.
Hopefully that display or a similar specd&priced one is included in the next sale they have.

Oh.. so yea.. I eventually got some new hardware and it arrived on Monday. Figured I should just update this thread a bit instead of make a new one.

Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition $189.99
Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H $148.78
G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ $71.02
Corsair TX750W $111.98
and of course some AC MX-2 $6.99
total after taxes and S&H:
$618.02

Here is the hardware:

Here it is in my case:

It is sitting off until an OS arrives for it. I am not going to waste my hardware on 32bit XP, so I am just using my Aspire One until then.

Once I get an OS installed I will drop nice a picture or two into the Case Pics thread. (keep your eye on that thread in about a week killswitch :P )

Still have not picked up the watercooling stuff yet and that is why I will be using the stock cooler for a little while :(
I think I am going to replace the stock cooler's fan pretty soon, based on initial BIOS setup and limited testing it sounds horrible at any speed much higher than idle.

I would be content with a heatercore and related WC stuff. ;)
My case is big and plain and I love it.

If anyone wants I have more pictures of unboxing the new hardware and could post them along with some comments on the hardware&packaging and stuff.
