Default New build around 1.6k

Hey I'm just looking for advice on a computer I'm building here are some of the specs I've come up with so far,

PSU: PC POWER & COOLING Silencer 750watt

CPU: Intel Q9450 2.66GHZ 12MB

Hard drive: SEAGATE 500GB SATAII 16MB

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case

RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB KIT 1066MHZ

MOBO: ASUS P5Q DELUXE MOTHERBOARD 1600 FSB DDR2

OS: MS Vista Home Basic 64 BIT

I'm just in a little bit of a bind for the graphics card I hear good things about the 8800gts I have around 400$ to spend including tax on the video card. Just looking on opinions of what would be best?

Don't need a cd drive have one and umm I'm not sure what to use for the CPU fan, am I missing anything else?

Nice parts.

I'd drop a 4870 in there, available for under $300 now. Or you go slightly over budget and pick up a GTX280 for low 400's plus tax.

Cheers, good luck with your build.

You could get a GTX 260
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...20Technologies
or the 4870
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...ltimedia%20Inc.

Both cards are good. I would get one of these instead of the 8800GTS.
but that's my opinion.

i agree.. GTX280 would be sweet, but i don't know if it fits in your budget. also, I'd go for vista home premium instead of basic. For the extra 10$ so worth it

I also suggest http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...e&promoid=1030 . its the seagate 640 gb. 32 mb cache, so that makes it faster, but also, because of the umm pallet or w/e its called *i don't know harddrives that well* it makes it faster because there are 2.

Thanks Guys,

good idea phobia on the hard drive I'm gonna get that instead!

I think I am gonna hit up the GTX 260 and I may change my mobo choice so I could SLI 2 of them later.

Definitely get Vista Home Premium x64. Home Basic lacks way too many features.

Personally I'd stick with the P45 motherboard and get a HD4870, or if you can hold out for a bit, get the HD4870X2.

Personnally I'll go with a 4870 and keep the option of going into crossfire when it will get too short. With your budget maybe you could wait a bit and see what price will be the 4870X2.

The 4870 X2 will be $450-$499 CAD. Won't be much of a surprise.

Personally, I'd drop a Samsung F1 HD into the mix, as it is the quietest drive out there right now...and it's cheap.

+999999999999999999999999999 on the 4870...performance is on par with the GTX2xx series for less moolah.

Lastly, get yourself a Corsair PSU. While PC P&C might be the king of power supplies...there is no need for 750W now. It's loud and expensive...the HX620W can take care of that system with lots of power to spare.

I would either get the GTX260 which is super cheap, or wait for the mighty beast HD4870x2
