First off, welcome to the forums!!! We're always happy to see new faces around here.

Second, you're going to have to provide a bit more information so that folks can make logical suggestions for your own personal requirements/budget......

What is the primary use going to be? How much money do you have to spend? Do you have any older hardware that you can use in this build?

Looking forward to seeing you around here. Folks here are friendly, and will be happy to offer some suggestions on what to look for.

the primary use would be gaming. The only piece of hardware I could take would be the sound card. My buget is around 1000$ to about 1300$. I am only in high school and have a summer job that will be paying for. Thanks for the welcome.

Hi ace44, welcome to the forums...you're in good hands as far as pc building advice goes. That's not my department, but others can definitely help you. :)

Not much movement in here yet (I think the title isn't drawing folks in... :) ).

I'm off to work, but I'll have a look this weekend for sure.

That card, unlike the X-FI xtremegamer, doesnt have the true X-FI chip, so it might be worth replacing.

Here's my advice (keeping in mind I'm always budget-concious and I always overclock my hardware instead of buying high-end) :

Processor : Intel E8400 (OC'able to 3.6ghz - 4ghz depending on hardware) - 189.00
Motherboard : DFI X38 LanParty Dark or DFI X48 Lan Party Dark (Crossfire Support for multiple ATI cards) 208.00 - 231.00
Ram : Mushkin Redlines PC2-8000 2x2gb (OCs to 1120mhz) 120.00
Video Card : Radeon HD4850 512mb - 199.00
Power supply: PC Power & Cooling Silencer Quad 750 watt - 150.00
Soundcard : Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer - 89.00
Optical drive : Any LG CD/DVD burner (compact size & silent operation) - 35.00

With this, you're off to a good start.

As for purchasing, here's a tip :

- Buy from NCIX.com
- Pricematch parts from TDDirect.ca & DirectCanada.com
- Pricematch memory price with Memoryhouse.com

Hope this helps !

Tell me what you think.

Thanks again so much.

*edit*
I couldnt add the Redline 4GB ram because they are out of stock at the moment.

I might suggest trimming down on the case and maybe powersupply somewhat to either get a second video card (if you save enough and its within you budget) or get a second hard drive and run Raid 0. But then again... I always have a preference for Multiples (see my Rig in my Sig).

Ace, just remember to pricematch your stuff from Directcanada & TDdirect ...!!!

- X-FI is 89.00 at DC
- DFI X48 is 231.00 at DC
....

There is also a 189.99 HD4850 on DirectCanada....

Squeeze some savings as much as you can...!
