Default Upgrade Itch, Should I Scratch It?

With all the new hardware out I am getting the itch to wanting to upgrade. Should I scratch the itch or just leave it alone?

This is what I mainly do with my PC. Run Adobe stuff like Photoshop and Premiere Pro and some gaming (Diablo III, Battlefield 1, Mass Effect Andromeda and will be playing Destiny 2 when it comes out.

Current Rig:
Intel Core i7-4770K (stock)
Stock HSF (I know, I know)
16GB Kingston Hyper X Fury DDR3-1866
EVGA GTX 980 Ti
120GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD (OS & Adobe)
240GB PNY SSD (Games)
3TB Seagate HDD (Storage)
EVGA SuperNova 850 G2
NZXT S340
2 x Corsair AR 120 in the front.

Spend $30 on a 212 Evo and clock your CPU to 4.5GHz.

Agree with zoob. Get whatever nice cooler you want, OC...even if just mildly, and call it a day.

Generally agree with zoob (and Bond007). But maybe invest a high-end cooler that could also be used in your next build? New monitor?

The monitor is a good option, depending on what you currently have. Making the jump to something with G-Sync is a fantastic upgrade. Really it extends the life of your current set up because even if fps dips a bit in newer games you won't notice. Things carry on looking great. A 1440p something with G-Sync paired with your 980 Ti would still be a great performer.

And a custom CPU cooler and a little OCing... that too ;)

I wouldnt upgrade hardware right now.

Too much new shiney coming down the pipe, and with competition back in both the GPU and CPU from AMD it'll be a great time to buy after the new releases.

Wouldn't recommend upgrading (changing whole platform) as well. Maybe buying a used 1080 Ti when a card similar from AMD comes out since buying new expensive GPUs are not a good investment to start with.

Just got into cycling and and wish I should've kept my original build (from 4670K and 780 Ti, 4790K and Fury X then Ryzen 1600) last holiday 2013 when I first started. Now itching for another MTB.

Thanks guys. I think I am going to get a Corsiar H100i V2 and call it a day and maybe a smaller case.
I have 27 and 23 inch IPS monitors from Dell.
