FYI, Steam has an option to install games on different drives now. I keep 3 or 4 of the ones I play most on my SSD and the rest on my HDD.

Excellent. I thought that was a feature but wasn't entirely sure.

Now I just have to find a case and I'm good to go. This will be my first time building the rig myself though...

Amazon is currently selling the Crucial M500 SSDs for the lowest prices so it might be worth it to buy from there or price match.

The Noctua NH-D (for Dinosaur)14 does cool best but the newer NHU14S is cheaper, quieter, more compact and uses newer fans (redesigned blades for smoother air flow), all while losing a couple of degrees in the cooling.

Overall I think your old rig can hold up fine and would wait for Haswell-E.

GTX 780 all the way. The R9 290 has abandoned us gamers and is hangin with the Wall Street wanna-be coin miners. Interestingly, I predict a future ban on this virtual currency and we might see over a million second hand R9 cards for sale on ebay. Vultures prepare!

Thanks! Right now I'm hoping that Asus will release the 780 TI DirectCU II soon so the non-TI OC 780 will drop in price...

Also, I think I've picked out my case, NZXT Phantom 530. Don't really care for the glossy black finish, but everything else seems good to me.

If you don't like the glossy black I think they do a gun-metal grey.

Release of custom designed higher end cards will not drop the 780's price.
