Default 240V Setup - Surge protectors?

Hey guys,

I'm looking at adding 240V breakers into my basement to centralize some gear and to gain a few percentage points on the efficiency of my power supplies.

Outlets: NEMA L6-30R twist lock
PDU: APC AP9571 due to low cost off eBay

Now where I run into issues is finding a suitable surge protector for 240V.

Anybody have any idea what to get for a reasonable price? Would I have better luck were I to change to L6-20R instead?

Thanks

Might be too late, but isn't there a PDU that has built in surge protection?

Not sure, it seems like all PDUs assume clean power.
It looks like I'll need to install a panel mounted surge protector like this one: Commercial Electrical 120/240 Volt Panel Protector, 4-Mode Protection, Light Commercial/Residential Grade, In NEMA 1 Enclosure, 51120-1 : Panels
