What are your current specs? What are you planning on playing? At what resolutions would you like to play? Doing anything other than gaming? Making videos? Editing Photos?

Drop in a new GPU for a significant bump in game performance.
If you want a beefier rig for editing then your looking at a new mobo, ram and cpu which will help some games but not near as much as a new GPU.

I agree, you have a very nice CPU and with that mobo you probably ovc it at pretty high levels. A new GPU would give the most boost.

well I ordered a R9 270 which will be a significant upgrade from my 5850. and ncix had a one day sale on it plus free shipping so it was less than 190. Yes I could have gotten a r9 270x for 50 bucks more but since I am playing bf4 on medium settings now at still 40+fps I am sure this will be fine for me.

Good choice. Your CPU is still kickass compared to my i5-750. This is why on my new build I'm not skimping on CPU - you can always change out the video card with relative ease, but getting a new processor is a whole other matter.

Not sure I would have made that jump myself, the 5850 was a damn good card and second only to the 5870 whereas the 270 is behind 4 other cards.. not sure how much increase you'll see with it.. there will be improvement don't get me wrong, just not sure (personally) that it's worth it, especially with AMD's going for so much more at the mo.
