Default Need advice on new gaming rig

Need some opinion on this new build:

CPU Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" SSD
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card
Case Cooler Master Storm Trooper ATX Full Tower
Power Supply SeaSonic 650W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Monitor Acer H236HLbid 23.0"

Will be used for gamming, no imediate overclock. Dual display (old monitor plus new one).

Should i upgrade the processor?
A regular caviar blue HD is necessary?
Is it enough RAM and PSU?

Thanks in advance

Plenty of $$ to build a great system, and it looks like you've chosen fairly well, even possibly overkill for a single monitor/single gpu system.

Not sure if saving $$ is important to you but from what i've read the i7 processor could be a total waste for your system (single monitor, single graphics card). It likely will not perform any better in games than an upper end i5. Just Google "i5 bottleneck gtx770" and you'll find relevant discussions on the topic.

$100~ savings and no hit to performance.

Put the $100 savings into the 256 GB version of the SSD and then pack even more good stuff onto it (i'm getting the samsung evo 256 gb on my low budget gaming system i'm putting together). 120 GB isn't much space really...

Skip out on the Samsung 840, unless you're getting the Pro. The SSD guru around here doesn't like it, and that's enough for me! Go with something from Crucial or Intel. The Crucial M500, perhaps...

Also, if you plan on playing at 1920x1080 for the forseeable future, you might as well skip out on the extra cost of the 4GB version of the GTX770 and just go for the 2GB version. I have the 2GB version and can game all day long with Ultra textures and not have any problems.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I'm sure this is pertinent to OP as well. What about the Samsung 840 EVO?

The 840 Evo is highly recommended. The Pro and the bog standard 840 are NOT.

Other way around GBA... anything with TLC Nand (tlc?) is not recomended by the resident storage guru and he knows his shiz.. go pro.

Suggestion to OP.. 7970.
Not a z87 board (your not overclocking and havn't got a "k" chip selected).
If your not planning dual cards in the future, a 650w PSU will be more than enough.

Oops, ya, your right. I had it backwards. Doh.

840 Pro - Good

840 Evo - garbage

840 - garbage.

I have the Pro SSD and I'm not that impressed with it. I had the Intel 520 and the Samsung is no faster. My wife has an Intel 540 and her rig loads games etc. a hell of a lot faster than my new Samsung Pro. Just sayin.
