Default 4770K build.

4770k, Asus Maximus Hero z87 and 32gb of 2400mhz CL10 ram. I'm keeping the 590 hydrocopper until the next gen. Still using my 3 vertex 2 60gb in raid0 as they are still as fast as most modern SSD's. I'll keep them in tune with the bios secure erase feature.

I'm going to use the ROG Ramdisk mount point feature. I will mount my Windows\user folder to a 2gb ramdisk (speed up and save the SSD from all those temp writes and savegames) and whatever current game I'm playing to a 24gb ramdisk. See how well that performs. I really like the way they implemented the Rog ramdisk using a virtual disk/snapshot method where it only writes changes back to the mount point.

We'll post some benches and load times once I am done.

that is some fast fast ram? Interested in seeing how well the RAMdisk works, and how 'convenient' it is, not only to use, but to setup, as well.

Went through the guide already. Looks very easy to use. Supposed to not affect boot times and not delay start times that much. We'll see.

The nand on an SSD will FAR outlast the controller FYI. It would likely take 20 years of writing to kill the NAND under normal conditions.

Keeping the appdata on another drive can be tricky. Not even sure that will be possible on a ram drive unless the drivers for the ramdrive are loaded before it tries to access anything from the user folder.

The only folder not allowed to be mounted is the windows folder.

Alright. So my 590 hydrocopper took a dump. Bought 2 - 7970's and waterblocks. Turns out the waterblocks don't fit. Grrrrrrrr. Both xspc and cooling configutator said these blocks would fit these cards.
Anyhoo, I'm running amd for the first time in at least 10 years (on air for now). So far so good.

Everything at stock speeds for now. I really like the way haswell clocks up and down instantly depending on load. Does it much faster and more often and to a greater degree than sandy bridge did. My G19 screen monitors all of this live.

Took and made a 20gb ramdisk (ASUS ROG ramdisk) that holds whatever game I'm playing currently plus the save games. Have another 2gb for the temp files and Google chrome cache. Makes everything really snappy! Adds some to the startup and shutdown times. But it is way cool.

You bought 2 7970's JUST before a new gen is released?
