An observation on Haswell temps. I'm betting they are not monitored the same way that sandy bridge were. Or from a different place or it's the tri-gate that does it but:

The temps go up and down much faster, and higher, than the bridge series did. You start a prime 95 test and they scream up to 75 (watercooled), as soon as you stop the test they drop to 35, within a second. My 2600k would slowly creep up to 60 and when you stopped the test it would take a minute to drop back down to 35.

I don't think we are getting apples to apples when it comes to comparing temps between ivb and haswell.

My 590 overclocked to 680mhz got me 80 fps in unigine heaven, this combo stock gets me 117.

Now when my replacement comes back (770 or 780 hydrocopper?) I'll decide to get another of those and sell the 7970's, or stick with team red. Most likely will sell the nvidia as I'm anxious to see how this mantle thing plays out.

Got 2 7970 Twin frozr OC BE's yesterday. They are stable at 1200mhz with stock voltages. Except, one of them is noisy as hell with coil whine under load. Sounds like a tasered Gerbil. Gonna exchange it I hope the replacement clocks as well.

Did some more testing, both these cards squeel. Not so much during gaming but noisy during benching. My system is whisper quiet so it is noticeable. I'm starting to regret switching to AMD. Costing me a lot of cash.

I've got a cpu voltage monitor now on my G19 lcd screen. I ran the asus overclock guru and set a target of 4.2 ghz. It's stable and only pulling 1.19 volts. From what I'm reading this is pretty good. I may go for more at a later date.
