My System Specs

Default mATX build - Building [pics]

Computer Case:
-BitFenix Prodigy M -- THIS CASE IS AWESOME!!!!!! If you don't mind fans sitting on the "top" of the case (outside), you have SOOOOOO much room for water cooling + PCIe cards! Or even doing a push & pull config! The fans are still "lower" than the carry handles on top of the case, so they don't look all that bad :D

CPU & Motherboard:
-i7-4820K (hahah, I bought 6 of them to "bin" and I've been hitting 4.75 Ghz on them all so far)
-ASUS Rampage IV Gene (dat price sucks)

CPU cooler:
-Corsair H100
-Swiftech H220 (when I get a GPU with water-block)

Memory:
16GB 1866Mhz Corsair Vengeance Pro 4x4GB (colour coordinated)

GPU:
-EVGA GTX 780 Classified (owned)

PSU:
-Seasonic X-760W (owned)

SSD:
-Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB (owned)

HDD:
-WD Green 500GB (owned)

Sound card:
-ASUS Xonar Essence STX (owned)

Don't see the point in going LGA2011 if you're going matx, you'll have to deal with more heat in a smaller form factor and you won't really get to make use of the extra PCI-E lanes because of the form factor. SB is still a really good platform.

It seems like you have already made most of the decision by choosing to re-use the parts you own.

Corsair Obsidian 350D is super sleek and Prodigy M is very nice but I think they are larger compared to other mATX cases. Corsair Obsidian 350D is about the same size to 200R according to Hexus (I think 200R is about the same size as Antec 300.)

Not sure which case you are moving down from but it might not be a huge difference in terms of actual volume. I can't comment on the quality but this seems to have decent reviews and looks great.

Ever considered the Fractal Arc Mini? One of my favorite mATX cases.

I am mostly looking for help with deciding on a mATX case and then the CPU/mobo combo... save some money and stick with my 2600k or spend on IVB-E because I have the money? I want something I can have some fun over-clocking pretty high and I've heard IVB-E goes back to the soldered IHS to drastically reduce temps.

As for the prodigy M, at 25 x 40 x 36 cm, it's a pretty darn small case (although fatter than most). I would love suggestions on mATX cases as I really have only looked at a few. My main concern with the prodigy M is fitting my sound card with a corsair H100... I'd rather stick with my H100 if possible instead of having to sell it to buy a 120mm rad. I am not a fan of the basic black box look (like the corsair), but I can live with it if I get a fancy window to spruce up the inside of my build with.

Stick with your 2600K. It'll overclock better than IB, Haswell and IB-E. I wish I'd hung on to mine.

So now, just pick a case. :)

I'm starting to put together a matx 2011 system but a little birdie told me to wait for x79 refreshes to the popular boards soon. The gene iv is a year and a half old. At the prices they charge for the x79's some new features would be nice.

I was recently shopping around for a new case and had the same small footprint requirement. I ended up going with an Antec Three Hundred Two. It's not as compact as I would have hoped but it was on sale and it's really just a few cm larger than other mid ATX cases. I would have gone with the 350D or the N200 but I was a little concerned that I'd be cutting it close with the CPU cooling. I was considering a Coolermaster Hyper 212 heatsink which has a height of 158 mm and the maximum height listed for the 350D is 160 mm. Since you have the H100 you probably don't have to worry about that, though. I saw both the 350D and N200 and they're nice cases. The 350D is also available in two flavours - windowed and solid side panel. As suggested to me by some members here, the best thing to do is go to a store and look at the cases yourself.

Can't go wrong with x79 and Ivy Bridge E. In my opinion, until Haswell E is released,IB-E is the way to go. For all we know, the 4930K may end up being better than Haswell E. For now,x 79 and Ivy Bridge E maintain kick ass status.
