My System Specs

Default Please Help me decide!

Hi All .. I want to do an upgrade and not really sure which way to go,The current specs in my rig are in my details I have a 500$ budget and these are my two choices I am looking at.
#1 Swap my board and chip out for this hardware here:
Intel Core i5-4670K Quad-Core Processor
- Socket LGA1150, 3.4Ghz, 6MB L3 Cache, 22nm
- (Retail Boxed) Gen4 (BX80646I54670K)
245$

ASUS Z87-PRO Socket 1150 Intel Z87 Chipset
- Dual Channel DDR3 2933(O.C.) MHz, 2x PCI-Express 3.0 x16
- Giga LAN, 8x SATA 6.0Gb/s, 8x USB 3.0, 8x USB 2.0
- Display Port/DVI/HDMI/D-Sub, ATX
205$
#2 Swap out my SLI for this card here,
EVGA (02G-P4-2774-KR) GeForce GTX 770 SC w/ ACX Cooler 2GB

I"m stuck here and not sure which way to go.
Thx again and I look forward to all your input

Which do you find is holding you back more currently? Your SLI 560Ti's? Or your 8120?

I would almost be tempted to tell you to upgrade your AM3+ platform to Intel 1150. If the 8120 isn't bottlenecking the 560Ti's, it probably will bottleneck the 770.

The couple of people I have spoke to say I should look at replacing my chip and mobo as well. The only problem I have with my current setup now is with the game Nexuiz which is related to a SLI issue,And when Im in a dungeon in Diablo 3,It tends to get a bit chuggie when there is alot going on which I am hoping moving to an Intel setup will help.

actually, your best option (cheapest) may be to upgrade to an 8350. That chip is only slightly slower than an i5 in game, and quite a bit faster in a lot of other tasks. That way you'll be able to keep your current, very high end motherboard, and potentially OC the crap out of the chip. There are quite a few 8350 users on this board that are very happy with their chip. It is quite a bit faster than an 8120.

What's more, if you sell your current 8120 and your two 560Ti's, you should be able to upgrade to a new 760 or 770. And all this for the same price as just upgrading to a 770, or just upgrading to an Intel platform.

Buy: AMD 8350 - $209.99
MSI GTX770 Gaming - $399.99

Total: $609.98

Sell in the BST: 560Ti's -- you could realistically get $90-$100 for them...let's say $90 EACH.
8120 - $100.

Total: $280

Difference (total amount you pay): $329.98

This way you get both a processor upgrade AND a gpu upgrade all for less than the price of a new GPU or a platform change.

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Ah, well, the 8350/770 is still a great option! Upgrade to the 8350 first, then in a month, upgrade to the 770. Done! Since you're paying for an upgrade, would it be too much too ask for your friends to help contribute, too?

you could also go with a GTX 760. I was just gaming today some NFS with all the eye candy turned on : FXAA, FSAA 4x at 1920@1080, AF at 16 and the card was not even stressed, the fan was at like 40%. My CPU is an IB 3550@3.5GHz. If gaming is on the table I would advice to get a used i3 or i5.

Either way you won't be going wrong. Personally I would probably go for the 770 now and do the CPU swap to an i5 when funds permit in the future.
