Question HELP REQUEST: Upgrade For Battlefield 4

Hello fellows,

As you are aware BF4 is coming out in November 2013. The only video game I play is BF3, so I will upgrade in October.

I built my current box myself in August 2011. Here are the key components I have got in it:

- Mobo ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z Z68
- EVGA GTX 570 2.5G
- PSU KingWin Lazer Gold 850 Watts
- SSD 256GB Crucial M4
- RAM 4Gx4 GSKIL F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL
- Intel Core I7 2600K 3.4G 8M
- Case Lian LI - PCZ70B RTL

I want to be able to run BF4 at Maximum settings!

What do I have to upgrade with my current box to be able to achieve that goal??

Thank you,

CG

There is no way to know for sure until its tested, but you are going to be good on the CPU/Ram/MOB/SSD front for sure...maybe grab a good budget air cooler and OC the CPU if you haven't already. The only thing that may limit you from max settings would be a graphics card. Wait and see how it performs when the game comes out. Worst case scenario you have to run it on high settings until you replace the GPU.

I agree with the above, I think all you're going to need is a newer video card, and you should be golden.

What's your budget? Like everyone else said all you need to do is upgrade your GPU. AMD and EA recently announced that BF4 will be optimized for AMD graphics cards (Nvidia will probably have stable drivers a week after the game comes out). I would wait till it's a little closer to BF4's release date as there's a good chance you can get the game bundled with an AMD card and possibly with a new gen release.

Actually here's another question, do you have 1 monitor or multiple monitors? Because you'll need a huge GPU upgrade if you want maximum settings with multiple monitors.

Another question I have is with what quality do you want to play the game? Maximum settings, yes I know, but what is an acceptable minimum frame rate?

BF3 is quite the resource hog (I am a bf3 enthusiast). You need much more than most people expect to run it at a minimum 60 fps on every map in 64 player mode, even on a single 1080p display.

I assume the same will be true of BF4. I predict that you'll need at least a GTX770 if not a GTX780 to play it at a minimum of 60 fps. Radeon actually works really really well with battlefield 3 (and 4 supposedly). I wonder if a single 7970GHZ edition would even do the trick.

When the game comes out read some reviews as to what you'll need then buy. or possibly hold off the first while to see what AMD have up their sleeves re the 8xxx series..
at least there should be some rumors to go on release dates by then.

Biggest thing is wait till the game is at least nearly out before you decide / buy and see whats good / available then.

after the question about res gets answered, i guess that next question would be what would be considered max like 60 fps fluid on max settings?
