My System Specs

Default For the $$ Build

Hello, I am putting together a rig that i've tried to find every piece on sale for. I think i've done a good job so far, heres what I have:

CPU: i5 3570K $224 (was 236 on the egg)
Mobo: EVGA Z77 FTW $93 (was 344 on the egg, im suprised they shipped my board at that price :P )
GFX : 7870 2GB OC Sapphire $224 (was $254 at Canada Computers)
Ram: 8GB Mushkin blackline $24 (was $37 at CC)
Cooling: Hyper 212 EVO $27 ($36 at CC)

I just need a PSU (a lower wattage one, my HX 1000 will power above PC and new PSU will power rig in specs), a SSD and Windows.

I think i've done pretty good so far waiting things out and keeping an eye out for deals, any thoughts on what i've been able to cobble together so far?

CPU: i5 3570K $224 (was 236 on the egg)great CPU. It does go on sale cheaper, but its still a great choice
Mobo: EVGA Z77 FTW $93 (was 344 on the egg, im suprised they shipped my board at that price :P ) I know newegg was clearing many EVGA motherboards out. I am not sure what the reason is. I will let someone else chime in on it with more info.
GFX : 7870 2GB OC Sapphire $224 (was $254 at Canada Computers) Great card. If I was buying now I would go for a gtx 650Ti Boost(just released), or GTX 660, as they can currently be had for $180-200, but a 7870 is going to suit you fine. It was a good deal before the recently released 650Ti Boost.
Ram: 8GB Mushkin blackline $24 (was $37 at CC) great deal. Memory prices are on the rise.
Cooling: Hyper 212 EVO $27 ($36 at CC) Solid budget cooler

the problem with the EVGA boards is the crappy BIOS. I got the board in Oct 2012 and they have released several BIOS updates for the board that improves each time. i know a friend on TPU forums that has the exact board and says its pretty stable with the latest BIOS. Im not looking for a big o/c or anything so as long as the board is stable for a 4 ghz o/c im more than happy. i registered teh board and have a 3 year warranty, so i should be covered in case of defective or DOA board.

Also i got the 7870 on Boxing Day and have been using it in my current setup and have been greatly impressed by its performance over my old 6870.

TR2 500W are crap sorry to say, I was looking at reviwes for a 450-600W PSU for a rig of mine, and they were BBBAAADDD

hardwaresecrets and johnnyguru have good PSU reviews, but I can't find it now, but they said it was not actually a 500W unit, and had dirty voltage regulation, ie. it varies +/- quite abit under load

been crunching WCG on the i5 2400/ 7770 with the PSU 24/7 and no issues so far. Anyways, im in good with a Tt rep so RMA shouldn't be a hassle if issues arise. Its not even using 350w full load so im fine with the PSU.
