My System Specs

Default Arctic Accelero Hybrid Cooling System

Hey folks, this is my first post here. I have been totally impressed with the quality and how succinct Hardware Canucks reviews are, and I'd love to see a review from them of the subject item.

I use my system for gaming, dabble in overclocking, play a single game [BF3 multiplayer] as part of a Clan, and don't have Acrobat, or MS Office on my system. That's too much like work, ha ha.

In general I run ROG Gamefirst to manage internet traffic and jack up my video card to the factory "Gaming" profile in GPU Tweak before I get in game, and leave my system on it's stock settings.

I have an ASUS GTX 560Ti 448 Cores triple-slot card and am considering replacing it with a used or inexpensive reference design Radeon HD 7970 card, and add a clever aftermarket cooler to it called the Arctic Accelero Hybrid 7970 Liquid Cooler (see below installed):

I have plenty of room in my case, and the Accelero rad can be installed on the floor of my case, drawing exterior air in.

Will the incremental performance of the HD 7970 card with the aftermarket cooler be worth the combined cost of the upgrade (est. $300 card + $150 cooler), and is it expected to operate cooler than the triple-slot card I already have?

So far, sixty (60) degrees C is the max GPU temp I see even when I push the card hard; extended BF3 sessions, 3DMark11 or Furmark tests.

It will be a marked improvement alright, depending on how hard you push the card and the fan profiles then 60c is easily doable. Is it worth it, well your going to have to figure that our yourself.

I found it was worth it to step up from a 560Ti to a 670, I think if I had the 448 or a 570 then I wouldn't have bothered till the next gen (I was running out of Vram in some games as it only had 1GB)

I wouldn't bother with that cooler unless your looking to push the clocks as high as you possibly can(and thats if it's actually any good)
