New Build - advice on 4 components
Greetings all; hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.
Have most of the parts, need advice with: CPU, M/B, SSD, GPU.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
Primarily gaming - Guild Wars 2 (and games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, World of Tanks, etc); I have a smaller system for general purpose computing, surfing, etc. and eventually will replace that with a low end dual core system.
2. What YOUR budget is:
500 - 600 approx
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from:
Canada - primarily NCIX
4. IF YOU have a brand preference - see below
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Parts on hand (previously purchased on sale intending to build a new system early last year, but could not afford to finish it at the time).
Case: HAF 912 (new)
PSU: Corsair TX 650W modular (new)
Cooler: Hyper 212 (new) see question below
Memory - either Muskin (2 x4) 9-9-9-24 DDR3-1333
or Corsair (2 x 4) 9-9-9-27 DDR3-1600 which ever matches M/B best
OS: Win 7 Home Premium
HD - Hitachi 1 gig (basic storage and weekly backup) (new)
DVD
keyboard, mouse, etc.
monitor: Dell 2209WA (used)
Looking for input on the following:
CPU - Intel - considering i5-3570
M/B probably MSI - other than USB 3.0 & SSD, no special needs
SSD - no idea, never had one before - probably 200 gig
GPU - possibly MSI/Nvidia based on past experience, but open to suggestions
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No O/C
8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Within the next 2 months
9. What resolution and settings do you use?
Dell 2209WA @1680 x1050
10. Are there any specific technologies you want?
SSD
Note: The CM Hyper 212 Plus package shows LGA77/1156/1366 but not the 1155 socket, but the current listing for it on NCIX includes the 1155 - anyone know offhand if there’s a difference? Or is the 1155 about the same size as the 1156?
