My cousin has recently installed Windows 8 Pro on his system. As we were running the usual windows update/driver install process, we were noticed that it installed the nvidia driver by itself after the first reboot.
We finished the windows update process and were about to start installing drivers when we realized that everything was working fine - third-party network card, USB3 ports, etc. The only hiccup was the nvidia driver was 306 instead of 310.
So the question is: Should we even bother installing any drivers for his maximus v gene if everything is working out? I'm asking specifically for him, but if there's a general rule about this, let me know.
for reference, here is the driver page:
ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS Maximus V GENE
EDIT:
he's not using or interested in using RAID or the asmedia sata ports on the mobo.
