Quick PSU question

Helping a friend make a SFF gaming PC for Christmas and basically we are wondering if plan A would work or we will have to go with plan B.

Plan A (mITX):
Silverstone SG05 w/ 450W included PSU
i5 3570k cooled with some ALC (probably an H60)
GTX 670/660ti
Mild overclock on CPU and GPU

The question at hand is...will this PSU be able to handle this hardware? Or should we go with plan B?

Plan B (mATX):
Silverstone SG09 w/ some modular 600-700W PSU
i5 3570k cooled with a Zalman CNPS 14X
GTX 670/HD 7970
Little more agressive overclock

Of course plan B will work, but he does prefer the more portable plan A if possible! So is it possible or will the PSU be too weak?

P.S. we are open to suggestions but this is on a budget so if you have an idea keep in mind it shouldn't cost too much more than plans A and B...

You will be ok with the 3570k and 660ti/670 with the 450W unit so long as it has the appropriate connectors for the video cards and such. I would avoid it if you have to use those molex to 6 pin connectors for the gpu. My 3770k OC'd to 4.5 and 7970 would only pull maximum 350-375W from the wall during gaming sessions.

Tough call. In all honesty I know you will fall under 400w if you only go mild on the OC. The unknown is the exact quality of that PSU. Normally I would recommend quality 500w PSU for that setup with no OC, or something a bit higher if you want to push it...that said, I know its not required. It just gives the warm fuzzy of keeping the setup for the longhaul. In the end I would say 3570k with 660Ti mild OC with no voltage changes should run without issue. I wouldn't do it with my money, but I don't upgrade often and I know others would have no issues.

Do yourself a favor and buy a quality 450-500w power supply.
