Default Would like some input on this Gaming Build

Greetings forum gurus,

I am posting this primarily for approval. I really just want to make sure I didn't make any screw-ups when it comes to compatibility, sizing, etc. I'm fairly confident in my component choices but for an investment on this scale I would like more than just my opinion.

My situation:
I am upgrading from a Sager gaming laptop that is several years old and in dire need of replacement.
I have no prior experience with overclocking and likely will not be doing much if any, though introductory guides would be appreciated.
This is primarily a gaming PC, with some schoolwork done as well.
Will be used with a dual monitor set-up, as of now includes a 27" (1920x1080) and an old 17" (1280x1024) that will eventually replaced by something bigger. (Both are LCD)
Will be purchased and used in the US, likely from Newegg primarily.
Budget is set between $1500-$2000 and I plan to order the components no later than the end of the year.
I have excellent peripherals and will be moving my copy of Windows from my old computer to my new one.

Particular things I would like a second opinion on:
Motherboard choice - I've got some more room in the budget, is there something better than what I have?
RAM - Is it worth putting more money in?
PSU - Is wattage adequate for the build?
Case - I like this one but if there's something significantly better from an outside perspective I'd like to know.
GPU - I was recommended the Gigabyte 7970, is there another version thats better? I would also like clarification on how this card can operate two monitors however, I see only 1 DVI port. I assume I simply purchase an adapter but I would like confirmation.
Hard Drive - I'm confident in my SSD choice but would appreciate any comments on my Storage Drive, the Western Digital 2TB with 6GB/s supported.
Future Proof - would an upgrade anywhere in particular make the build last longer? I would prefer not to replace this for several years.
Accessories - I intend to pick up some extra fans and thermal paste but is there anything in particular you all would recommend.

Finally the intended specs:

NOTE - The PSU I chose is the following:
Corsair HX 750 - Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
For whatever reason I couldn't find this particular PSU in PC Partpicker.

Thank you for any comments!
