New member and new build.
Hey guys, I'm doing a complete system upgrade in 4 days and have some need of opions and advice on my new build.
My foundation currently sits as follows:
Mobo: Z77 socket 1155 mid range board with SLI/CF
Vid: 7970 (my monitor is 1920x1080)
Ram: 8 gigs of ddr3 1600
Whats got me noodling is the case and PS.I plan to cool the CPU using the Corsiar H100i, and my concern is will it have clearance issues with the case I plan to use (Corsiar Graphite Series 600T).
Also what wattage of PSU i may need, I was going to get a 700 watt Corsair unit but I was thinking of going the CF road.
Any opions and ideas will be greatly helpful and appreciated.
Welcome to the site, I'm fairly new as well. If there is anything I have learned here, dont skimp on your psu. You want quality. I've used THIS SITE to help me decide on how much power I need. Tbh, I know a lot of people that put too much emphasis on more power (1k watts plus) when they are only using 650w. Sometimes it's better to go with a better quality and go with a 750 or 860 psu.
Anyway, check out that link and it has a lot there to help you figure out how much power you need.
Also, here is A LINK to verify that the psu you are looking at is the 80Plus Certification that they advertise it as.
Thank you for the reply, so i decided on a 750 unit from PC Power and Cooling, 7 freakin year warranty and wicked reviews sold me :thumb:.After looking at some reviews of the Corsair Graphite 600T it should fit the H100i so most of my major issues are solved. Now the fun part is making my build list and finding the cheapest prices:haha:
Welcome to HWC, if you have any further questions on the build just ask em here. cheers
Since I got a thread going maybe take a glance at my build so far, and feel free to point out any mistakes.
CPU: Intel 3570K
Mobo: MSI Z77A-GD45
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 CL9
Vid: Gigabyte R7970C-3GD
SSD: Intel 335 240 Gb
HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 Tb
PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK 2 750 Watts
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 600T (the white one)
HS: Corsair H100i
The price for the build sits at 1,700 so far
No mistakes, but I'd look at swapping out the PSU for a Corsair or Seasonic unit. PC Power and Cooling is now owned by OCZ, and their reliability has suffered a bit.
Otherwise, a very solid build. It will handle anything out now at 1920x1080 resolution.
Did not know that, currently running a OCZ PSU ....no need to "upgrade" to another iffy PSU:doh:.Hopefully there is some awesome price cuts comming soon, want to see if I can squeeze another 7970 into the budget.
