Default 720p Gaming Rig upgrade

What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Mild gaming, movies, entertainment. No editing, no production studio.

What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
560USD or Rs. 30,000

What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
India, hence higher prices than the prices in US and Canada.

IF YOU have a brand preference.
Doesn't matter, should have a good performance to price ratio.

If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
2gig ram, intel Core 2 duo, hard disk, dvd drive [i am not sure of the specific parts names and specs, sry]

IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
As the topic suggest, my friend wants to upgrade his PC, and wants to go for a 720p set up. He is not very fond of 20+ inch monitors, so there is a no to 1080p *sigh*. So based on certain threads I have read, the GPU that I have found that are going to work great are
GTX 550 ti
AMD 7770
AMD 6850

IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
default

WHEN do you plan to build it?
Planning to build in 2 to 3 weeks time. We have not yet bought anything yet. We have planned for a certain things to buy, but no final decision yet. Need some hardware cannucks suggestion.

What resolution and settings do you use?
720p or 1366 x 768
If possible, I am looking forward for Physx, CUDA, AA,[or an amd equivalent] and such technologies.

Are there any specific technologies you want?
Nothing specific.

Final note, the cabinet I have looked for, is the corsair 300r, will that be good enough?

Thank You.

Nvidia is supposedly releasing the 650ti soon at around $150, why not wait and see what that has to offer, might end up a better deal, the 660 is probably a little overpowered for what he wants but spending that and getting that would make sure he could do anything

isn't core 2 duo a bit outdated? I think that any core i3 would be a much better choice.

I would go for a cheap motherboard, 8 gb 1600mhz ram of your choice, i3 CPU of your choice and an hd 7770
