If you have the room for an ATX board then it is certainly going to offer better future expandibility with regards to extra graphics cards, add-in boards. However, if you only plan to run a single GPU, that Maximus V Gene is a wonderful board. The on-board audio is quite decent, it supports dual GPU's, Intel NIC, and will give you some moderate overclocking headroom provided your cooling is sufficient.
Generally boards in the $150+ range will offer more overclocking headroom as they're often built with more robust components, and power delivery systems. Gigabyte also makes some good boards, although I have never personally used one in my own rig.
