My System Specs

Default how about a LGA 2011 build?

I am flirting with the idea of getting a LGA 2011 build. I found some local core i7 3930k at 400$ or under and from newegg, from what I see I would like the ASUS P9X79 PRO or ASUS Rampage IV Gene but I am a bit scared, everybody is telling me this CPU is hot requiring high end air or water cooling. A Corsair H60 would cut it for this big boy? And for those wondering what am I going to use this rig : is F@H! Points wise would it be better to get a 2600k and a 2500k or these 2 together would equal the 3930k? I want to stop the dependency on GPU folding, is not good on the hydro bill!

For z68, a basic DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24 1.5V kit or tighter timings would be fine. I don't think that higher frequency would matter all that much for folding or gaming and certainly wouldn't be worth the extra money. Gskill ripjaws is usually pretty good stuff.

If you need low profile RAM, Corsair is a good choice.

As for the decision between the 500R & 400R it mainly comes down to $30 and that 200mm side panel fan that's included in the 500R. Dust filters are great, but they aren't a necessity on the top of the case and especially so when you have positive airflow.
