Default New Mobo+CPU and OS question

Hi, I am replacing my motherboard and CPU. I have a problem because my current computer was built by someone else and I have no CD key for Windows 7, just the disk.

Is it possible to just swap the hardward and boot? or do I need to purchase a new Windows 7?

Thanks
