Review My Build/Give Suggestions

I built a pc two years ago and its been a terrible experience. Mostly because of the freezing and lock-ups in games. So this time i would like some advice in the compatibility of the part so i won't run into any problems.


1. My Pc will be used for gaming (minecraft to Crysis 2, BF3, MW3) also video encoding and stuff like photoshop. I would like it to run smooth.

2. $900 is my price point or lower

3. USA, California

4. Not that much of a fan boy of companies just want compatible parts, good price and performance.

5. Have a 23 inch monitor

6. I have read tons and frankly im tired of reading success stories of others build when my last one sucked. and cost my money ~1500 and it freezes constantly

7. I'm familiar with overclocking but i would like it to boost performance.

8. I would like to start ordering the parts because i have 5 brothers and one pc that crashes.

9. 1920x1080 monitor but recently everything on high settings. I would like good looking graphics and it to be smooth.

10. Don't care about noise and 1tb hdd would be good

If your doing video encoding and photoshop I would look at getting 16gb of Ram and Maybe an SSD if it fits in your budget

What is the spec's of your last computer... Just cos your having problems doesn't mean that you necessarily did anything wrong or need a total new build to give the performance your looking for.

If you are looking to overclock, I would stick to Sandy Bridge. Less heat when overclocked. A 2500K would do all your needs fine and save you a bit of cash. I would also look at an Asus Z68 Matx Gene motherboard. They are smaller but the overclocking potential is much better.

You can Change the GFX card to your liking but this combo with perform very well just about any game you throw at it. I know it will do BF3 with all turned to Ultra no AA, 8x AF @1920x1080. i know it's a smidge over your budget, but it's worth it....especially to get a decent board for overclocking.

You will definitely notice a difference BUT your on the edge of where an upgrade is needed. (though a GPU upgrade and more ram would help quite a bit)

I would go for a slightly better board than the LX from Asus.. The Asrock wasn't a bad choice but alternatively the Asus maximus gene is better than the LX and it's Matx(smaller board)
At least bump to the P8Z77 V Pro in my opinion.

Hyper 212 will allow you to oc reasonably well.
620 watt PSU should be fine for pretty much any single card set-up unless you put everything at max load and oc (which rarely if ever happens)

For rendering.. grab a 2x8Gb kit.. will be worth it. (the new samsung stuff is apparently very good)
nout wrong with a 4x4 kit but it leaves you less space to put in more in the future if you decide that you want more.

Could possibly save some on the case too.

So it should installed and working by Tuesday July 17, 2012 at around 15:00, if everything goes well and I don't find a way to screw up things! So wish me luck it is after all my first time, I have read a lot of your comments observe a lot of YOUTUBE how to, so I feel I am ready to jump in!

But good choice on the parts. PSU is overkill but if your SLI or Tri-SLI'ing is a good choice.

Finally installed all the parts, the PC is working fine! Now I know what it feels like to be in full throttle mode, I am a happy, happy, happy person! Don't think I missed anything, although now I will need help to pick some games don't know what I like and don't know what to get... I am first time gamer so any of you expert on the matter please stand up and speak to me. Thank you for your wise information...
