So I check with TigerDirect about assembling the system that I'm considering. They tell me that system assembly is a flat $75 fee, $125 if there is an O/S to install as well..

Umm.. yeah...

I'm a little nervous about assembling the system myself, but to pass on a $125 fee, I think I can manage.

If you haven't bought yet, consider this:

The Bitfenix Prodigy is probably the coolest (cred wise, not temperature) small form factor case out there. You'd need to switch to an mATX motherboard, but it will fit a fullsize video card. This case really is the pimpest case currently available, though.

This is the case with a GTX690 installed (upper HDD tray removed) demonstrating it will take a fullsize GPU (double slot...forget about the ASUS DirectCUII.

The caveat is that you WILL have to run an mITX motherboard, and you can forget about ever doing a crossfire/SLI setup with this case. Other than that, this thing is a work of art.

For $1650 you could do much better components wise... Where do you live? NCIX does have a bunch of stores and you can price match to them. Pretty much every single part you can get cheaper except for maybe the vertex 3.

I live in the Toronto area. I was going to write that there is a Tigerdirect not 5 minutes from myplace, while Newegg and NCIX seemed to be in another province. However, I just found out that there is indeed an NCIX outlet that is 20-25 minutes away. Looks like I need to go recheck figures. :)
