My System Specs

Default Is a Corsair AX850 power supply enough for a future SLI or Crossfire upgrade?

Hey guys,

I have just finished a LGA2011 build.

I7 3820
Gigabyte X79 UD5
32gb Patriot Viper Division 4 RAM
2x XFX XXX HD5770's in Crossfire
1 Vertex 4 SSD
4 assorted mechanical storage hard drives

it is currently powered with a Corsair AX850w power supply.

My question is, I am looking to upgrade to a GTX670 SLI set up in the future....will this supply be sufficient or should I step it up when I upgrade the cards?

Cheers

The AX850 will be more than adequate for 670 SLI. No worries

Should be no problem. Considering many are powering dual gtx 580's with trouble and the 680's are even more efficient. I'm running dual 6950's and it runs like a dream.

I power two 580's with the AX850, so you should be fine.

I own the ax850. It will crossfire 2x680's and your cpu overclocked to the maximum stable clocks.

Depending on the rest of his set-up but it would be a bit tight for comfort with 2k worth of GPU

850 should be fine for 2 680's though and if the tech keeps going for the power savings that this generation has brought then it should be good for a while..

Thanks guys.....It looks like I'll be good. Sweet, I was hoping to avoid buying a new PS it'd add a bit to my upgrade costs
