Default $1 build, please suggest parts

Hello all.. Planning a $1000 build, need parts suggestions. Primarily will be used for mild gaming/overclocking, web browsing, watch movies, listen to music.. I'm looking to also put a custom watecooling loop, that will be on a different budget. Please suggest a case too (possibly one that can take a triple rad without modding)..

So far I'm set on an i5-2500k, thinking of a Z77 board. I'm still in the world of core 2 duo, so need some help :)

With the MIR's and less the H60 you could have a decent chunk to invest in either a better GPU or perhaps a small SSD..

SSD will boost boot times but the WD black is a reasonably fast drive anyway.. Personally I wish I bought a second 560Ti for the price of my SSD..

What games do you play and at what resolution is your monitor? it may be worth boosting gpu or not depending on these..

Thanks man.. I am going to drop the H60, since I have a cooler master hyper 212+ for now, plan is to get a full build with custom loop going together..
So with that saving, I'll end up getting a better psu, something like corsair and a $120GB SSD. My budget really is $1500, but I want to limit myself to $100 or a little more so I have enough for the watercooling portion; and the fact that I don't really need a $1500 system for basic use, it's overkill.

I'm also unsure of gpu, I'm still on using a 19" monitor, and I doubt I'll go any bigger, I have widescreen so I find it plenty, current resolution though is 1440x900. So there's the debate of 560Ti vs 6970 vs 7850..

For that monitor then a 560 should be ok and a 560 ti should play everything max'd

Right now, you cam PM tigerdirect with MemExp. for a $200 3570k. Not sure if you're close to mem exp. but you can also PM in store with hookbag.ca for a 128GB Crucial M4 and get it for $110

It seems I was on a similar upgrade path as you and I can say it was a waste of money having a kick ass rig with a small lcd. If you were to even delay a new screen by a year, your parts will have depreciated even more than the cost of a new screen by then. Buy a new monitor before anything else or use the money for the planned watercooling and at least get a U2311HM or something similar. You'll notice a nice screen much more than any other upgrade and right after that would be an ssd.

I would second getting a monitor before the SSD.. I got a dell u2311h and the improvement in colour is huge..
That said if your not going to upgrade it, then my last point stands.

I actually disagree on the ssd.. I think SSD's are still a luxury, If you have the money go ahead.. If you need fast read-write times then go ahead.. but for most gamers I'd say your better putting more into the GPU. You'll see much more benefit..
Boot and load times are nice with SSD's don't get me wrong.. but really the few extra seconds it takes me to boot my pc and load x - y - z program-game-level.. I'd rather have a 580 than the 560Ti I currently have.
Just not enough bang for the bucks for me.

How about the Dell U2211H, I don't see many differences in it, and there's one for sale in the BST section here for $160, sweet price..

Ok so let me ask again, so if I were to stay with my current 19" what GPU would be suggested and if I were to get the Dell 21", what GPU would that be then?

Thanks..

It's a difference of 1 step really...

560 will be enough and 560ti will max your settings on the 19"..

560ti is enough and a 570 will max the settings on the dell ips.. (not that the 560 won't run the larger resolution, it'll just do it at either reduced quality or frames..)

670 is due out in the next few weeks, may be worth waiting for it, if it's in your budget..
